FIRST VESSEL DEEPER THAN 39’06” DRAFT CALLS AT PORT CANAVERAL
Wednesday, October 21, 2015 was a milestone day for Port Canaveral as the first vessel arriving with a draft deeper than 39’06” called at the Port. The M/V Alice Oldendorff came in with a load of granite from Canada with a draft of 39′ 10″. A new maximum allowable draft of 40’00” was recently established at the port for some of the berths as a result of the ongoing deepening and widening project and dredging of the cargo berths. The Canaveral Pilots were proud to work with the Canaveral Port Authority and port partners Fillette Green ship agents, Petchem Tugs, and Seabulk Towing to serve this vessel at Port Canaveral.
