The Canaveral Pilots Association congratulates the U.S. flag tanker American Freedom on her maiden voyage and first call at Port Canaveral. The ship arrived in port on April 24th to deliver gasoline loaded in Houston. The ship was delivered by builder Philly Shipyard, Inc. to American Petroleum Tankers, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, on March 29th, 2017. The ship is a 600 foot long, 50,000 dwt product tanker and is the second of four ships of the class being built for APT. Crowley Maritime operates and manages the APT fleet. The delivery of the American Freedom is part of a major expansion of U.S. flag Jones Act tankers operated by Crowley.
